Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what checks are carried out on goods arriving into the UK from outside the EU at the point of entry.
Border Force carries out documentary and physical checks on people and goods entering and leaving the UK in accordance with UK and EU legislation.
These checks include checking licences or permits for restricted goods, anti-smuggling checks looking for illicit items, checks to ensure duty and import VAT are paid, and checks to ensure wider customs rules are complied with.
