Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, pursuant to the Answer of 12 September 2017 to Question 7685, what progress has been made on (a) developing a pathway for adults with eating disorders, (b) issuing implementation guidance for providers and (c) data collection to assess the feasibility of introducing a mandatory waiting time standard for adults with eating disorders.
The National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health in partnership with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence are currently developing an adult eating disorder care pathway along with detailed implementation guidance for providers. This pathway will be published in due course.
NHS England is undertaking data collection and analysis to understand current levels of provision, including activity, workforce and investment across both community and inpatient adult eating disorder services. This work will establish the potential for future improvements in access and waiting times and the potential for achieving parity with children and young people’s eating disorder services.
