Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to his Israeli counterpart on the legislation passed by the Knesset on 7 March 2018 to enable that country's Minister of Interior to revoke the permanent residency status of Palestinian residents of Jerusalem; and if he will make an assessment of the compatibility of that law with international (a) humanitarian and (b) human rights law.

Officials from our Embassy in Tel Aviv raised this issue with the Israeli authorities on 15 February, noting the importance of ensuring that the legislation is compatible withe the Israel's obligations under international human rights law.
