The government applies a reduced rate of VAT to the installation of a number of energy-saving materials, including insulation and solar panels. While all taxes are kept under review, the application of further reduced rates is strictly limited by EU law.

Our future relationship with the EU, including on VAT, is subject to negotiation. Any future decisions on VAT will continue to be taken in line with the normal Budget process.
