The British public donate around £10 billion to charity each year. We do not have an estimate of the charity sector's income derived from 1p and 2p donations, however, cash remains the most common way for people to donate and the average given is around £40 per donation. The Government has launched a call for evidence to better understand the role of cash and digital payments and encourages charities and their representative bodies to respond to this consultation.
