Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether his Department has made an assessment of the potential reduction in hospital admissions for people with cystic fibrosis were Orkambi to be made available on the NHS.

The Department has made no assessment itself. However, in developing its technology appraisal guidance, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, takes into account all the costs and savings associated with the treatment compared with existing clinical practice.
