Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what contingency plans his Department have made to revise the National Policy Statement in the event of a change to the cost of Heathrow Airport’s North West Runway scheme.

The Planning Act 2008 sets out the circumstances in which any National Policy Statement should be developed, reviewed and amended. The NPS is already clear that the developer should demonstrate that its scheme is cost-efficient and sustainable, and seeks to minimise costs to airlines, passengers and freight owners over its lifetime.
