Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, when he plans to review his Department's guidance to Ofsted on parental engagement.

School leaders and governing bodies should ensure there are mechanisms in place to be connected with and answerable to the communities they serve, particularly parents and carers. This is set out in the Department’s Governance Handbook for maintained schools, academies and multi-academy trusts.

The Department does not provide specific guidance to Ofsted on parental engagement. How school inspection is conducted on these and other matters is for Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector, Amanda Spielman.
