Question to the Department for International Trade:

To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, whether he has had discussions with his EU counterparts on initiating a safeguards investigation on steel and aluminium imports into the EU; and if he will make a statement.

The decision to initiate a safeguards investigation is the responsibility of the European Commission. We are working closely with the European Commission and EU Member States on a response to the proposed US actions.
