The Universal Credit system does not automatically record claimants’ reasons for naturally migrating to Universal Credit. To provide this information would incur disproportionate cost.

Claimants naturally migrating from existing benefits to Universal Credit do so because they have had a significant change in their circumstances that would previously have triggered a new claim to an existing benefit or tax credit.
