Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, with reference to the Written Statement of 6 December 2017, HCWS 317, Government asset sale and pursuant to the Answer of 26 March 2018 to Question 133614, on Student: Loans, what estimate his Department has made of the proportion of plan 1 student loans held by the Government that will not be repaid.

The government will produce a revised estimate of the proportion of plan one student loans held by the government that will not be repaid, taking into account the sale of part of the plan one loan book that was completed in December 2017. These are due to be published in the Department for Education’s 2017-18 annual report and accounts in summer 2018.
