Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many applications his Department has received for the position of (a) chair of the Social Mobility Commission and (b) board member of the Social Mobility Commission.

We have received twenty-one applications for the role of Chair of the Social Mobility Commission. We plan to begin the recruitment process for new Commissioners as soon as possible after the new Chair has been appointed, to allow him or her to be involved in the process.
