Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will make an estimate of the (a) average age, (b) gender breakdown and (c) ethnicity of the social care workforce.

Skills for Care have published data which shows that for 1,510,00 filled posts in the adult social care sector in 2021/22, the mean age of workers was 44.6 years, 82% were female while 18% were male, and 77% were white while 23% were from a black, Asian or minority ethnic background.
