The Cabinet Office-led Red Tape Challenge programme ran from 2011 to 2015. This preceded the creation of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), which was formed following the merger of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

There were 29 themes under the Red Tape Challenge, with at least 8 reviews looking at some aspect of what is now a BEIS policy area.

The reviews were undertaken in close cooperation with the appropriate Government Departments. Both BIS and DECC, where relevant, published responses to the reviews. Full details of the themes, Departments responses, and actions taken in each theme can be found on the Gov.uk website.
