Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether he plans to provide support to enable people to increase their use of active travel to help protect household budgets in the context of the rising cost of fuel.
Walking and cycling for short journeys instead of driving can reduce the running costs of a car for households whilst providing physical and mental health benefits.
The Government is enabling more people to walk and cycle through £2 billion of investment over five years as outlined in the Prime Minister’s Gear Change plan published in 2020.
