Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what progress his Department has been made on ensuring that mobile devices will be able to use the 3.4GHz spectrum band required to support the roll-out of 5G broadband.
Ofcom is the independent regulator responsible for spectrum in the UK. Last week, Ofcom concluded an auction for spectrum in the 2.3 and 3.4 GHz bands. This placed more 4G spectrum and the first spectrum for new 5G services into the hands of mobile operators. Decisions as to where and when the spectrum is used to deploy for networks are commercial matters for the operators.
