The government is committed to combatting all types of discrimination in the workplace and wider society.

Many public-sector bodies are exempt from corporation tax and can either reclaim VAT on their purchases or are funded to cover their VAT liabilities. Therefore, they could not be incentivised through tax reliefs to invest further in accessibility to public buildings.

The Equality Act 2010 requires all companies and organisations to make reasonable adjustments to remove the barriers faced by the disabled to ensure they have access to the same services as someone who is not disabled.
