Information on the average waiting time for general practitioner (GP) appointments is not collected or held centrally at either a local or national level.

The GP patient survey, a questionnaire sent to a sample of registered patients in England, found that in 2017, 70.8% of patients reported they were able to see or speak to someone at time they wanted or sooner.

The Government is committed to improving access to general practice. By October 2018, everyone will have access to routine evening and weekend appointments.
