Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what estimate he has made of the average number of GPs per income quintile of the population in England in each of the most recent 10 years for which data is available.

The requested information is presented in the attached table. The population of England is divided into deprivation bands based on income (quintiles 1-5, with 1 being the most deprived and 5 the least deprived). These bands contain approximately the same population numbers. The number of general practitioners working in each of these quintiles is presented for every year between 2008 and 2017.
