Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the potential long-term trauma and detrimental effects on mental health caused to people affected by the Windrush scandal; and what steps the Government is taking to provide counselling, talking therapies and ongoing support to all those affected and their families.

The Home Office has made clear it's commiment to do right by the Windrush generation which is why we have established a dedicated taskforce to help the Windrush Generation and other long-term residents to evidence their right to be in the UK. We will want to take time to consult and think about all areas of compensation but we will put this right.
