It is for the independent inspectorate, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS), in line with their statutory obligations, to determine the length, scope and content of their programme consultation.

HMICFRS engaged extensively with forces, Police and Crime Commissioners, the Home Office and other interested parties in the drafting of the framework which was published for consultation.

The consultation closes on Friday 11 March, and the final programme will be submitted to the Home Secretary for formal approval in due course, at which point it will be laid in Parliament. HMICFRS will also publish the results of the consultation, as they do each year.
