Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, pursuant to the answer of 5 June 2026, to Question 1174, on the Opportunity Mission Board, whether any of the meetings referenced in the answer were formal meetings of the Breaking Down Barriers to Opportunity Mission Board, or whether the Mission Board itself has been discontinued since November 2025.
Since the Opportunity Mission Board ceased to be a Cabinet Committee in November 2025, the Board has not met.
Since the Opportunity Mission Board last met, the department has published a number of major strategies, including the Giving Every Child the Best Start in Life strategy and the Every Child Achieving and Thriving White Paper, which set out the government's approach to delivering these priorities.
Ministers have convened a number of meetings with ministerial colleagues from across government to oversee progress on these priorities. Delivery is now managed through a range of ministerial, official and departmental governance arrangements, rather than through a dedicated Mission Board. These include the Departmental Board, chaired by my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Education. Ministers also work across government through ministerial forums, including the Keeping Children Safe Ministerial Board.
