Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will make it his policy to announce long term funding settlements for the NHS in order to allow investment in the future of the service.
The Government has and will continue to prioritise investment into the National Health Service. Funding confirmed at the last Spending Review was on top of the £33 billion for the historic long-term NHS settlement announced in 2018. Taken together with the £8 billion funding announced at the 2021 Autumn Statement, which was announced to enable rapid action to improve emergency, elective and primary care performance, the NHS resource budget in England will increase to £165.9 billion in 2024/25, a £38.9 billion cash increase over the parliament. As per usual practice for Government departments and their arm's length bodies, future NHS funding will be determined at future Spending Reviews.
