Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he is taking to support key workers living with and providing care for extremely clinically vulnerable people who are shielding during the covid-19 outbreak who are required to physically attend their workplace during the covid-19 outbreak.
Current advice is that people who live in a household with someone that is considered clinically extremely vulnerable do not have to shield themselves. Shielding advice is only for the individual considered clinically extremely vulnerable. The Government’s advice is that everyone should work from home where possible. Where this is not possible, those not considered clinically extremely vulnerable can continue to attend the workplace. All employers are required to take steps to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace and employers should be able to explain to employees the measures they have put in place to keep them safe at work.
