Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether he plans for the regulations on identifying and supporting victims of modern slavery under s50 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 to be open to public consultation.

Section 50 of the Modern Slavery Act confers a power on the Home Secretary to make regulations on identifying and supporting victims of modern slavery. The Act does not require the regulations to be subject to a public consultation prior to being laid before parliament.

The regulations are subject to the affirmative resolution procedure, this will provide parliamentarians, from both Houses, with an opportunity to scrutinise and debate the contents of the regulations.
