Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether he has made representations to the Government of Bahrain on its proposed legislation prohibiting candidates from dissolved societies and organisations running for office in elections; and if he will make a statement.

We are closely monitoring this proposed legislation. As with all elections in the region and beyond, we encourage the Government of Bahrain to ensure fair, inclusive and transparent elections.
