The Government is strongly committed to the Armed Forces Covenant and has taken significant action to ensure that serving personnel and veterans do not face any disadvantage as a result of their brave service for this country. That is why we are working closely with the Ministry of Defence as part of our cross-government Rough Sleeping and Homelessness Reduction Taskforce to achieve our commitment of halving rough sleeping by 2022 and eliminating it by 2027.

In addition, as part of the Homelessness Reduction Act, the duty to refer will ensure that armed forces personnel leaving the service, who are at risk of homelessness, are referred to a local authority for support.
