Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what recent assessment his Department has made of the adequacy of staffing levels at places of safety under the Mental Health Act 1983 in England in each of the last 5 years.
The Care Quality Commission, in its role as the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England, monitors and inspects mental health services to see whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. In its inspections of mental health providers, it considers staffing levels as part of the focus on safety.
