There are no plans to charge European Economic Area National Health Service staff the NHS surcharge after the United Kingdom leaves the European Union. The Department is working to ensure the best outcome for the health and social care system. All relevant policy teams within the Department are involved with this work and are assessing the implications of the UK leaving the EU on their area. Cost recovery arrangements once the UK has left the EU will be subject to the outcome of this work.
