Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 120 of his Department’s Annual Report and Accounts 2022 to 2023, HC 1468, what the cause was of the reduction in asset life of plant, property and equipment at HMNB Devonport.

As a result of a Safety Review, a decision was made to demolish three dockside buildings, as they no longer met current seismic standards. Plant and equipment within the buildings that was usable was removed and the remainder was disposed of because it was judged as no longer fit for purpose.
