Fuels: Excise Duties

Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will make an assessment of the potential merits of bringing forward legislative proposals to require retailers to pass on reductions in fuel duty to the consumer.

The legislation to implement the 12-month cut to fuel duty rates took effect from 6pm on 23 March 2022.

The Government is clear that it expects those in the supply chain to pass the fuel duty cut through to consumers as soon as possible, and will continue to monitor fuel prices closely.
