Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether the information Lord Mandelson provided as part of the vetting process for his appointment to UK Ambassador to the United States impacted his dismissal from that role.

The Prime Minister made the decision to withdraw Peter Mandelson as Ambassador to the United States on 11 September 2025. The decision was made in light of the publication of emails written by Peter Mandelson that showed that the depth and extent of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein was materially different from that known at the time of his appointment.
