Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he make an estimate the merits of making free prescriptions available to all people with lifelong diseases.
This question was answered on 12th June 2018
The Department has no plans to make such an estimate. In the financial year 2016/17 prescription charge income generated £554.9 million of revenue for the National Health Service which played a key role in contributing to the cost of providing services.
