From 2016-17 the figures requested form part of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's annual report submitted to Parliament. The research and development amount is separately disclosed in Standard Operating Procedures Note 2.1. Outturn for the 2019-20 financial year will be available when the 2019-20 accounts are laid in July 2020. Prior to 2016-17 there was no disclosure requirement and the numbers were not collected.

The figures are:

£000

2016-17

3,928

2017-18

6,056

2018-19

6,447

Prior to 2017-18 staff costs were measured on a different basis.
