The UK is committed to playing a leading role in continuing sanctions against Russia. Sanctions are one of a range of measures we have taken, in concert with others, to defend our security and enhance our capabilities against the escalation in Russia's malign activity. The UK's current legal powers to implement sanctions flow largely from the EU, but we are engaged with our EU, US and other G7 partners to maintain our proactive stance to develop and implement sanctions.
