Within the Government’s current £5.2 billion investment programme there are around 150 property flood resilience (PFR) schemes under development, which will better protect over 4,000 homes at very significant risk of flooding.

Using evidence from the investment programme, the Environment Agency will be developing Long-Term Investment Scenarios to forecast the optimal level of investment in PFR.

Flood-Re’s Build Back Better scheme, developed with the Government, allows peo-ple, through participating insurers, to claim up to £10,000 for flood resilient repair over and above the cost of work to repair damage caused by a flood. Following its intro-duction in April 2022, the Build Back Better scheme is now supported by two-thirds of the UK property insurance market.
