Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, how many homes have been built on land that was previously green belt land in each of the last eight years.
The Department produces statistics on the estimated percentage of new residential addresses created on land with designated Green Belt status in the year in which the addresses were created.
Figures for 2013-14 to 2017-18 are given in Live Table P310, which is available within the ‘2016-17 residential address change tables’ spreadsheet at https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/live-tables-on-land-use-change-statistics.
Figures for the percentage of new dwellings built on Green Belt land in 2011 and earlier calendar years are available in live table P246 at https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/live-tables-on-land-use-change-statistics, but these figures are not consistent with the latest figures due to a change in the methodology for producing land use change statistics which took place in 2013-14.
