Beer: Excise Duties

Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what comparative assessment he has made of the level of beer duty in (a) the UK, (b) Germany and (c) France.
This question was answered on 24th February 2021
HM Treasury keeps all taxes, including beer duty, under review whilst preparing for fiscal events. Changes to duty rates are determined through assessment of the economic and fiscal circumstances in the UK; and as such no comparative assessment to France or Germany has been made.
