Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how much and what proportion of the NHS budget was spent commissioning (a) beds and (b) services from the private sector in each year since 2012.
The Department does not hold the information as requested.
Total spending by National Health Service commissioners on private health providers since 2012/13 for which figures are available is shown in the following table.
