Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what recent assessment he has made of the effectiveness of the level of penalty charges issued for blocking disabled parking spaces on changing behaviour.

The Government believes that the current levels of penalty charges are effective and has no plans to change them. Parking in a disabled space without displaying a valid Blue Badge is a ‘higher level’ parking contravention, so it is already subject to a higher level of penalty charge than ‘lower level’ contraventions.
