Personal Independence Payment: Armed Forces

Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many and what proportion of personal independence payment appellants have served in the armed forces.

The information requested is not readily available and could only be provided at disproportionate cost.

Service personnel and veterans who are entitled to a Guaranteed Income Payment of 50% or higher through the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme are eligible for Armed Forces Independence Payments (AFIP). This is an alternative payment to PIP. The numbers currently receiving AFIP are in the link below at page 12:
