Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what percentage of spending on defence contracts has been awarded to UK companies in each year for the last 10 years.

The Ministry of Defence publish annual statistics on expenditure with industry and commerce. The statistics include direct MOD expenditure with UK and overseas industry, as well as payments to Foreign Governments and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreements with the US Government. Expenditure is allocated to specific regions or countries based on the location of where work is recorded as taking place. The table below details the percentage of work conducted in the UK for the financial years (FY) 2018-19 – 2024-25.

As you can see from the table the highest percentage of UK spend was in the first year of this administration, but we believe there is considerably more work to do and opportunities to realise to support British defence businesses large and small.
