Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, with reference to the Written Statement of 28 June 2018 on Building Safety Update, HCWS811, which enforcement measures have been granted to the joint expert inspection team to ensure the remediation of private sector high-rise residential buildings with unsafe ACM cladding.
Under the Housing Act 2004, local authorities have powers to identify, assess and take enforcement action against owners of residential buildings in their area that are not acting responsibly in respect of hazards, and have a statutory duty to keep housing conditions in their area under review. The Joint Inspection Team will provide support and expertise to local authorities in exercising these enforcement powers for the remediation of private sector high-rise residential buildings with unsafe aluminium composite material cladding.
