Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, a) how much total funding has been allocated to national resilience and civil contingencies in the current spending review period and b) what the breakdown of that funding is by department.

National resilience and civil contingencies activity is funded across departments as part of their Spending Review settlements. At SR25, the government prioritised spending for resilience and civil contingencies projects across HMG, including £4.2 billion for flood defences, over £1 billion for biosecurity infrastructure, and £520 million for life sciences manufacturing.

Under the Lead Government Department (LGD) model, designated LGDs are responsible, within these settlements, for leading work to identify serious risks and ensure that the right planning, response and recovery arrangements are in place.
