Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether the EU suspension of invitations to senior military officers from Burma to visit the EU remains in place.

​The former Foreign Secretary secured EU agreement to suspend invitations to the Commander-in-chief of Burma's armed forces and other senior Burmese military officers at the Foreign Affairs Council in October 2017. This suspension remains in place. The EU Foreign Affairs Council in February 2018 concluded that the EU should prepare targeted measures including travel bans and asset freezes against a further seven Burmese military officers which came into force in June 2018.
