Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what guidance his Department issues to rail freight operators on idling in residential areas.

The Department for Transport does not issue guidance to rail freight operators regarding operational matters. A number of operators are taking steps to reduce their environmental footprint, including the retrofitting of stop-start technology to a number of locomotives to minimise idling.
