Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what discussions he has held with Network Rail on (a) planned changes in the volume of rail freight and (b) the (i) length of freight trains (ii) weight of freight trains and (iii) the type of cargo being transported on freight trains passing through Oxford in the next five years.

Neither the Department for Transport nor Network Rail specifies the level or type of freight services operating on the network. This is a commercial matter for the Freight Operating Companies and is a function of market demand.
