The UK played a major role in securing the Paris Agreement and we remain committed to it.

The Paris Agreement is the framework by which countries set out their plans to meet their emissions reduction targets. It is then the individual country’s domestic policy frameworks and market forces which determine how those targets will be achieved in practice.

I am pleased to see renewed international, state and city level commitments to tackling climate change and statements in support of the Paris Agreement. The UK will continue to work with the US and other international partners to promote the transition to a low carbon economy.
