Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that Windrush generation applicants to Government bodies including the Student Finance Company are not penalised as a result of their immigration status.

The Home Office has been working with departments across Government to introduce additional safeguards to ensure members of the Windrush generation can access services and are not impacted by measures designed to prevent illegal migration.

This includes strengthening our immigration status checking enquiry services to ensure potential Windrush cases are referred to the taskforce so their status can be addressed. The Home Office has issued guidance on these safeguards to public service providers responsible for conducting immigration status checks.
