Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, how many (a) direct employees, (b) agency staff and (c) outsourced staff working in (i) his Department and (ii) agencies of his Department are paid less than the (A) national and (B) London living wage as defined by the Living Wage Foundation.

This question was answered on 9th October 2018

There are no direct employees in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy paid less than the National or London Living Wage as defined by the Living Wage Foundation.

All of BEIS agency staff and contractors are required to comply with all relevant legislation and are therefore required to pay at least the National Living Wage as a minimum starting salary.

I have asked Chief Executives of the Executive Agencies to respond directly to the Hon Member and these are attached.
